Philosophy: Approaches and Issues, Grade 12, University Preparation Course (HZT4U) This course allows students to explore the branches of philosophy: metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of science, ethics, aesthetics, social and political philosophy, and logic. Students acquire analytical, reflective, and research skills, and develop their argumentative and critical thinking skills. The course allows them to debate their ideas in light of their knowledge and philosophical reflection derived from the analysis of their personal experiences and certain aspects of contemporary society. This course, like all those in the Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum, also targets the development of research and communication skills. Prerequisite: Any university preparation or university/college preparation course in the Humanities and Social Sciences, French, or Canadian and World Studies curriculum.
