History Canadian History Since the First World War, Grade 10, Theory (CHC2D) This course allows students to trace the significant events in Canadian history since the First World War and to examine the political, economic, and social contexts that have shaped the lives of Canadians, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, and influenced their actions. Its study extends to cooperative activities and conflicts that have occurred in Canada and French Ontario, Canada's growing role internationally, and the contributions of individuals and groups to Canadian identity, citizenship, and heritage. Students develop their understanding of key political developments and government policies that have impacted First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals and communities. Using the concepts of critical thinking in history and the process of inquiry, which requires, among other things, the analysis and interpretation of evidence, students acquire the skills necessary to analyze major issues and events in Canada since 1914.
