Social Change and Challenges, Grade 12, University Preparation (HSB4U) This course allows students to examine theories, perspectives, and methodologies developed in the humanities and social sciences to explain major trends and ethical issues facing our society. Students learn how and why cultural models, social structures, and patterns of behavior change within human societies over time. This course provides an opportunity to explore the ideas and perspectives of social theorists and to better understand how individuals and society respond to or adapt to challenges posed by, among other things, technological change, globalization, deviance, and inequality. This course, like all courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum, also targets the development of research and communication skills. Prerequisite: Any University Preparation or University/College Preparation course in the Humanities and Social Sciences, French, or Canadian and World Studies curriculum.
