LSQBO, Quebec Sign Language as a second language

Quebec Sign Language as a Second Language, Level 1, Open (LSQBO) This course is intended for students who want to learn about Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) and Deaf culture. Students acquire basic concepts and skills related to understanding and expressing themselves in LSQ in authentic and relevant interaction contexts. Students learn to use strategies to construct meaning from a variety of signed messages. In addition, students develop communication skills to interact appropriately in LSQ with Deaf partners. The course also allows students to gain a new cultural perspective by analyzing the historical events that have helped shape the identity of Deaf people today. Finally, students develop a variety of skills necessary for lifelong language learning.
