Cultures of the World Francophonie, Grade 12, University/College Preparation (HSC4M) This course allows students to examine the concepts of culture and cultural identity and to grasp their complexity and dynamic nature, while becoming familiar with the diversity of cultures that participate in a plural world Francophonie. Students are encouraged, among other things, to explore the historical events and realities that have shaped the plurality of the Francophonie in Canada and elsewhere in the world, to become familiar with the institutions that the world Francophonie has established to ensure its influence, to situate the role of the Francophonie as an actor of cultural diversity in the context of globalization and to evaluate its major issues and future prospects. With the knowledge thus acquired, students will be able to participate fully in the collective culture of the world Francophonie. This course, like all those in the humanities and social sciences curriculum, also targets the development of research and communication skills. Prerequisite: Any pre-university, pre-university/pre-college or pre-college course in the Humanities and Social Sciences, French or Canadian and World Studies programs
