Nutrition and Health, Grade 12, University Preparation (HFA4U) This course allows students to establish links between food, energy balance and nutrition, and to analyze the nutritional needs of individuals at different stages of their lives. Students study the role of nutrients in a person's health. The course also leads them to evaluate food trends and determine the impact of individual choices on food security as well as the environmental impact of food production and distribution. Throughout the course, students are required to apply their knowledge of safe food preparation and cooking techniques. This course, like all those in the Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum, also targets the development of research and communication skills. Prerequisite: Any University Preparation or University/College Preparation course in the Humanities and Social Sciences, French, or Canadian and World Studies curriculum.
