Food and Culture, Grade 11, University/College Preparation (HFC3M) This course allows students to explore the cuisines of the world and to combine their characteristic aromas and flavors. Students study the origin and development of various cultural traditions. In addition, students learn to cook with ingredients and cooking equipment specific to these cultures, to present typical cooked dishes and to observe the specific rules of table etiquette associated with them. The course also allows them to explore the influence of globalization on the food choices of Canadians. Throughout the course, students are required to apply their knowledge of safe food preparation and cooking techniques. This course, like all courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum, also targets the development of research and communication skills. Prerequisite: None
