2nd – French

The Grade 2 French program in Ontario focuses on improving oral communication, reading, and writing skills. Students continue to develop their ability to express ideas and participate in conversations by asking questions and giving more complex answers. In reading, they improve their ability to read longer texts and use comprehension strategies, such as prediction and summarization. In writing, they begin to structure longer texts, such as stories and descriptions, using complete sentences and an increasingly rich vocabulary. Emphasis is placed on encouraging independent reading and creative writing.
