3rd – Science and technology

The Grade 3 science curriculum in Ontario covers three major areas: life science, physical science, and Earth and space science. Students explore the characteristics of plants and animals, understanding their needs, habitats, and the relationships between living organisms. In physical science, they study the properties of materials, such as states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) and physical changes. In Earth and space science, they discover Earth-related concepts, such as natural resources, recycling, and weather phenomena. The curriculum encourages exploration, observation, and experimentation, while developing scientific thinking and communication skills.
