4th – Mathematics

The Grade 4 mathematics curriculum in Ontario focuses on deepening skills in numeracy, geometry, measurement, and problem-solving. Students deepen their understanding of numbers by exploring the concepts of multiplication and division, as well as fractions and decimals. They investigate the properties of more complex geometric shapes and learn to calculate perimeters and areas. In measurement, students use standard units to measure lengths, volumes, masses, and temperatures, and they explore the concept of time in more detail. The program also encourages practical problem-solving, using strategies to organize information and perform calculations. The goal is to develop strong mathematical skills that can be applied in everyday situations.
