5th – French

The Grade 5 French program in Ontario aims to develop students' oral communication, reading, and writing skills. In oral communication, students are encouraged to engage in more in-depth discussions, organize their ideas, and logically defend their opinions. In reading, students read a variety of literary and informational texts, using advanced strategies such as analyzing text structure, inferencing, and understanding the author's intentions. In writing, they hone their ability to write more complex texts, such as essays, detailed narratives, and reports, using more precise vocabulary and advanced grammatical structures. The program also encourages revision and editing of writing to improve clarity and coherence.
