6th – Science and technology

The Grade 6 science curriculum in Ontario covers several subject areas, including life science, physical science, and Earth and space science. In life science, students explore the relationships between living organisms and their environments, investigating concepts such as food chains, habitats, ecosystems, and ecological interactions. In physical science, they discover the fundamental principles of matter, energy, light, heat, and sound, emphasizing the properties of these phenomena and their application in everyday life. In Earth and space science, students deepen their understanding of Earth systems, including the structure of the Earth, weather phenomena, as well as celestial objects and astronomical cycles. The curriculum encourages hands-on exploration, observation, and experimentation.
