7th – Social Studies History and Geography

The Grade 7 social studies curriculum in Ontario focuses on exploring ancient civilizations, past societies and cultures, and the study of social and political phenomena. Students study ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the Indigenous societies of North America, analyzing their political, economic, and social structures, as well as their cultural and scientific contributions. The curriculum also includes an in-depth study of democratic principles, human rights, and human values throughout history. Students are encouraged to reflect on the impact of historical events and develop an understanding of the challenges and successes of ancient and modern societies.
