History Canadian History: Identity and Culture, Grade 12, University Preparation (CHI4U) This course examines the evolution of Canadian identity throughout Canadian history from the earliest contact with Indigenous peoples to the present day. Students explore the founding events of this identity as well as the political, economic, and social circumstances in which Canadian identity and heritage have been shaped and constituted over generations. Using the concepts of critical thinking in history and the process of inquiry, which includes analyzing and interpreting evidence, students acquire the skills necessary to analyze the role of people, events, and historical forces in shaping Canadian identity and heritage. Prerequisite: Any University Preparation or University/College Preparation course in the Canadian and World Studies, French, or Social Sciences and Humanities curricula
