Everyday Mathematics, Grade 11, Pre-Employment Course (MEL3E) This course focuses on practical applications of mathematics arising from situations related to remuneration, income tax returns, and the purchase of goods and services. Students will discover the different types of loans offered by banking institutions, calculate simple and compound interest on loans and investments, and compare the cost of different travel options, including purchasing a vehicle and using different modes of transportation. Throughout the course, students will learn to communicate their mathematical reasoning clearly. Prerequisite: Mathematics, Grade 9, Open-Ended Course (2021) or Principles of Mathematics, Grade 9, Theoretical Course, or Methods of Mathematics, Grade 9, Applied Course, or a locally developed mathematics course leading to a compulsory Grade 10 credit.
